 JAWAHARLAL NEHRU UNIVERSITY 

The Jawaharlal Nehru University(JNU) constituted under the Jawaharlal Nehru University Act 1966, (53 of 1966) came into existence in 1969. The approach of the University has been to evolve policies and programmes which will make JNU a distinct addition to the national resources in higher education.
The university have an area of about 1000 acres and currently 7300 students are residing in 17 hostels and studying under around 550 reputed faculties. JNU is a university which believes in creating new heights in every field of education and in nurturing social awareness in society. 
JNU have 10 different schools including 4 special centres to provide quality education and social awareness.

  JNUEE (JNU ENTRANCE EXAMINATION)
The National Testing Agency (NTA) has been entrusted with the conduct of Jawaharlal Nehru University Entrance Examination (JNUEE 2020) from 2019 onwards.
The objectives of NTA, inter-alia, include:
i. To conduct efficient, transparent and international standard tests in order to assess the competency of candidates for admission.
ii. To undertake research on educational, professional and testing system to identify gaps in the knowledge systems and take steps for bridging them.
iii. To produce and disseminate information and research on education and professional development standards.


Admission to JNU is based on the performance of candidates in the All India Level Entrance Examination. The final selection is based upon the performance of candidates in the CBT for all programmes of study . For Selection in M.Phil. and Ph.D through CBT mode,candidates are called for Viva voce and final merit list is made with 70% weightage to CBT score and 30% weightage to Viva.
There will be a common/single question paper for M.Phil. and Ph.D. programmes in 
the same field of study (provided intake is there in both the programme for JNUEE). 
The entrance examination shall be conducted for both the programmes in same filed 
on the same date and time, as per the schedule given in the Information Bulletin. If 
any candidate intends to apply for these two Programmes of study i.e. M.Phil. and 
Ph.D. in the same filed, candidate can apply for both the programmes and has to 
appear only in one common test and attempt the relevant question paper (in the 
same field). The marks obtained by the candidate shall be considered for both the 
programmes, if opted for both.

The Mode of Examination is  LAN Based CBT (Computer Based Test).

Qualification-

  •  Candidates with a Master’s degree in Engineering/Technology with a good academic record /Master’s degree by Research in Engineering/Technology with a good academic record /
  • Master’s degree in Sciences with a good academic record and having a valid GATE score or UGC-JRF/NET/CSIR-JRF/NBHM/INSPIRE or equivalent qualification tenable for the current year in the relevant area.
  • Master’s degree / dual degree or equivalent in a relevant discipline AND Qualifying UGC – NETor JRF / CSIR-JRF / GATE Score or equivalent qualification tenable for the current year in the
     relevant area or international level post graduate admission examination such as GRE(Non-HTRA).
  • Masters degree or 2 year PG Diploma in a relevant discipline, and a Bachelor’s degree with a good academic record (minimum five years of undergraduate and postgraduate education.
