Output Devices are hardware component which are used to display print processes information. The common output device are-Monitor
Plotter
Speaker
Monitor
Visual Display Unit used as monitor in the main output device of computer. It consists of cathode ray which display character as an output. It forms image from tiny dots,called Pixels , that are arranged in a rectangular form. The sharpness of image depends upon the number of pixels.

It is the most important output device which is used to print information on paper printer are essential for getting output of any computer base application.

Impact printer
The printer that prints the character by striking against the ribbon and onto the paper are called Impact printer.
Two Types
1. Character Printer
2. Line Printer
Character Printer prints one character at a time.

Dasiy Wheel Printer
Dot Matrix
Dasiy Printer Prints the character by a mechanism that use a plastic or metal hub with spokes.
It is prints in good quality but expensive than Dot Matrix printer.
Dot -Matrix printers prints the character by putting board on the paper .They do not give better printing quality than the Dasiy Printer but faster in speed .The printing speed of a Dot Matrix printer can be up to 360 CPS( character per second) only use with micro computer in most of office.
Line printer
This printer print one line at a time .The printing speed is much more than character printers.
There are given two types
Drum Printer
Chain Printer
Drum Printer prints the line by rotating drum having a ring of characters for each print position .The hammer strikes each character of the drum , so that the entire line is printing for one full rotation of the drum . also called as Barrel Printer. The printout obtained from this printer have even character spacing but uneven line-height.
Chain Printers prints the line by a rotating chain having ring correct for is printing position . The printing mechanism is similar to Drum printer, the printout obtained from these printers have uneven characters spacing but even line height.
Non-Impact printer
These printer prints the character without striking against the ribbon and onto the paper called non impact printer. This printer prints complete page at a time therefore also called as Page Printer.

Laser Printer-
Printer looks and work like photo copies .They are based on laser technology which is the latest development in high speed and best quality printing. It is used a laser beam to write the image on a paper. First . the image is formed by electrically charged thousands of dot on a paper by laser beam. then paper is sprayed with a toner having the opposite charge and it passed over a heated roller to make the image permanent.
Laser Printers are very popular and have become an essential part of the Desk Top Publishing (DTP) .
It is costlier than Dot Matrix .but use in all office due to quality printing. They are many model of laser printer depending upon the speed and number of doted printed.eg- 1200 DPI (Dot per Inch) which can print 10 pages/ minute. High speed laser printer given a speed upto 100pages per minute.

Inject Printer prints the character by spraying the paper with electrically charged ink. It gives better quality than character printers but not better than laser printers printers.
They are cheaper than laser printers ,widely used in many offices. they also offer an option of using colour cartridges for multi-colour printing.

Thermal Printer-
prints the characters by melting a waxbased ink off a ribbon onto a special heat paper. They give letter quality printing but are expensive in maintenance than other printers.
Plotter
It is important output device, used to print high quality graphics and drawing .All the graphic can be printed on the printer,the resolution of such printing is limited on printers.They are generally used for painting or drawing a graphical images such as chart, drawing maps etc of engineering and scientific application .
Types of plotters are-
Flat bed Plotters- prints the graphical image by moving the pen on stationary flat surface material They produce very accurate drawing.
Drum Plotters prints graphical image by moving both the pen and the drum having paper.They did not produce as accurate drawing as printed by flatbed Plotters.
Injet Plotters
These Plotters use inkjet in place of pens. It is faster than flatbed plotters and can print multi colour large drawing.
Speaker
Speaker gives some output from your computer with convert an alternative electrical current into sound it can output music as well as spoken words some speakers are built into the computers and some place outside laptop have built in speaker in quality and its price the computer speaker typically package with computer system have a medium sound quality the slightly better computer speaker have equalization features such as bass and treble colour for improving their sound quality ticketed computer speakers may have a Subwoofer unit to enhance bass output.
