NTA UGC NET

 NET is a national level exam conducted in order to select candidates for only Assistant Professor or both Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) and Assistant Professor in Indian universities and colleges. Till June 2018, Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) conducted NET on behalf of UGC. However, from December 2018 onwards National Testing Agency (NTA) started conducting the UGC NET exam.

National Testing Agency has been established by the Government of India as a premier and autonomous organisation to conduct entrance exams for admission/ fellowship in higher educational institutions. The agency has been given the responsibility to conduct popular exams like UGC NET, JEE Main, NEET, CMAT etc.

Application form releases  - March16,2020
Application process ends-    June 15,2020
Admit card                         -  September
UGC NET exam                 September and October.

If corona virus situation will under control , NTAUGC NET JUNE 2020 will conduct in August end.

UGC NET Eligibility 2019

The basic criteria that candidates must fulfill to meet UGC NET eligibility 2019 are:-
  • Candidates should secure at least 55 per cent aggregate marks in post-graduation
  • Candidates should not be more than 30 years in age in order to be eligible for JRF
  • There is no age restriction to apply for the post of Assistant Professoional
  • A relaxation of five per cent in educational qualification is given to reserved category candidates.
  • A relaxation of five years in age criteria is given to reserved category candidate
  • Candidates who have cleared State Eligibility Test (SET) before June 1, 2002 are exempted from taking the UGC NET exam.


Important Points
  •  The eligibility for ‘Assistant Professor’ or for ‘Junior Research Fellowship and Assistant Professor’ will depend on the performance of the candidate in both the papers of UGC-NET in aggregate.
  •  The candidates qualifying exclusively for Assistant Professor will not be considered for the award of JRF. 
  • Candidates appearing in UGC-NET should thoughtfully select in the Application Form whether they are applying for ‘Assistant Professor’ or ‘Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) and Assistant Professor’. 
  • Candidates who qualify the Test for eligibility for Assistant Professor will be governed by the rules and regulations for recruitment of AssistantProfessor of the concerned universities/colleges/State governments, as the case may be.
  •  The candidates who qualify for the award of JRF are eligible to pursue research in the subject of their post-graduation or in a related subject and are also eligible for Assistant Professor. 

  • The universities, institutions, IITs and other national organizations may select the JRF awardees for full time research work in accordance with the procedure prescribed by them.
  • Junior Research Fellowship: Candidates qualifying for the award of JRF will be eligible to receive fellowship of UGC under various schemes, subject to their finding placement in universities/IITs/Institutions. 
  • The validity period of the offer will be three years w.e.f. the date of issue of JRF Award Letter. However, for those candidates who have already joined M. Phil. / Ph.D., the date of commencement of Fellowship shall be from the date of declaration of NET result or date of their joining.

Can we get marks for questions claimed by other students in UGC net if they are found correct?- YES

 UGC-NET June 2020 Exam Pattern
 Mode of Examination: The Examination shall be conducted as Computer Based Test (CBT) only. 

 Pattern: The Test will consist of two papers. Both the papers will consist of objective type, multiple 
choice questions. There will be no break between papers and total time is 3hours.

The questions in Paper I intends to assess the teaching/ research aptitude of the candidate. It will primarily be designed to test reasoning ability, reading comprehension, divergent thinking and general awareness of the candidate.

PaperII  This is based on the subject selected by the candidate and will assess domain knowledge.



HOW  To Apply Online:- 
1 Apply for Online Registration using unique Email Id and Mobile No.

2 Fill in the Online Application Form and note down the system generated Application No.

3 Upload scanned images of Candidate’s Photograph (file size: 10 kb - 200 kb) and
Candidate’s Signature (file size: 4kb - 30kb) in JPG/JPEG format.

4 Pay fee using SBI/Syndicate/HDFC/ICICI/Paytm Payment Gateway through Debit
Card/Credit Card/Net Banking/UPI and keep proof of fee paid.
In case the Confirmation Page is not generated after payment of fee then the transaction is cancelled, and amount will be
refunded to the candidate’s account. However, the candidate has to make another transaction, in case the Confirmation Page is not generated.
5 Download, save and print copies of Confirmation Page after successful remittance of fee and keep copies safely for future reference.
